Inspired by our love for nature, our climate and sustainability, The Smartel way is deeply rooted in hydroponic technology, smart irrigation, and IoT sensors that significantly enhances climate resilience in agriculture by targeting smallholder farmers in vulnerable communities.
We have positively impacted the lives of over 15,000 youths through Smartel's climate-smart hydroponic systems and tech-driven sustainable models
Through Smartel’s climate-smart hydroponic systems and sustainable, tech-driven models, we have directly improved the lives of over 30,000 people, enabling farmers and urban residents in climate-arid areas to grow fresh, local produce year-round.
We have deployed 3000+ of our hydroponics systems & currently produce 4 tons of animal fodder daily that serve our clients.
Each Smartel hydroponic system reduces 1.2 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually. With 300 systems deployed, Smartel has offset an estimated 360 metric tons of CO₂.
We empower climate-vulnerable communities with innovative solutions through our Learn & Earn Program, which provides comprehensive hydroponic farming training and delivers systems to farmers at no upfront cost. Utilizing a Revenue Sharing Model, farmers grow and sell produce while sharing profits with Smartel, enabling increased farmer incomes and sustainable reinvestment. This approach fosters climate resilience and economic empowerment in regions heavily impacted by climate change.
“I manage a mid-size veggie farm near Bugesera. Since Smartel installed twelve solar hydroponic racks, climate shocks aren’t killing my margins. I'm pulling 40% more lettuce on a fraction of the water, and the dashboard tweaks feed mixes before problems hit.
Even with the revenue-share repayment, profits are up and I’ve landed a steady contract with a Kigali supermarket. Smartel turned weather stress into predictable cash flow.”
